General trouble shooting

This page contains a couple of trouble shooting steps if you are having problems with your ioMail account.

Step 1: Check you have an internet connection!
You'd be surprised. The first thing to check is that your internet connection is working ok. Of course if you are reading this on the same machine you are trying to access your ioMail, then things are probably ok. Otherwise, pop open a browser on the target computer or device and try to access a few web pages.

Step 2: Verify your account details
Regardless of your intentions you can always check your ioMail account via the webmail interface. So, assuming you are having a problem with a desktop application such as outlook, thunderbird etc. email program, the next thing to do is to check your email account using webmail. Head off to the webmail site and login using your primary email address and password.

If you have forgotten your password please go to password recovery.

If you have forgotten your email address then that's a good time to create a support ticket so we can sort it out.

People are sending me mail but I am not receiving it - what's going on?
Ahh yes - this old chestnut. Ok there could be any number of reasons this is happening but one thing to check is that their email is not being flagged as spam. This can happen for a variety of reasons which would most likely bore you to tears.

If you are using webmail simply look in the 'spam' folder to see if the senders mail is there. Depending on your Spam Filtering Preferences be sure to cover your eyes as they may be some nasty stuff in there!

If their mail is flagged as spam you can safelist that sender or change your spam options.

Download a copy of the Webmail User Guide for more information on how to change spam filtering options. To view this document you will need Adobe Reader or another pdf reader.

If you are using a desktop email application with IMAP you should be able to see the same 'spam' folder you would in webmail so you can it as above.

If you are using POP to read your mail and have not modified your Spam Filtering Preferences then you will need to login to webmail to check the contents of your spam folder.

It's all too much!
If you get stuck please do not hesitate to create a support ticket so we can help you out. Remember, while we cannot provide support for your desktop applications we will certainly check your account setup and point you in the right direction.
